Evergreen curriculum is based on Holistic approach which sees the child in the round, as a whole person – physically, emotionally, intellectually, socially, morally and culturally. The curriculum aims at helping children be the most that they can be. The curriculum focuses on six developmental domains of early childhood development. The learning outcomes under these six developmental domains is achieved through theme based approach.
A theme is an idea or topic that a teacher and children can explore in many different ways. The teacher will integrate literacy, science, physical activity, math, music, and art all around the theme. Brain Researchers have pointed out the significance of creating patterns and assisting children in figuring out the connections to learning. Theme-based curriculum model encourages children to form those patterns. When all the learning activities are connected around a single “theme,” children see how learning is inter-connected. All the activities under Evergreen curriculum themes are thoughtfully planned to not only to make the learning interesting, meaningful and simulating but also to nurture natural curiosity and enthusiasm of early childhood.
